In the spring of 2025 I made the drive back out to Potts Ranch. The forecast called for heavy cloud cover across most of Nevada, and I almost scrapped the trip—it's a solid 4.5-hour drive into the middle of nowhere. But sometimes you take the chance, and I’m so glad I did.
That night turned out to be unforgettable. While I was capturing a series of photos for a panorama, the sky suddenly exploded with light—a meteor burst through the clouds right above the old ranch house, fragmented, and quickly vanished toward the horizon. It was a moment like no other, and I’m thrilled that my camera caught it. The image here is the result of that incredible night—one I’ll likely never experience again.
